STARGAZING UNDER THE ORANGE SKY at BORRODELL
This December, our cellar door becomes a Stellar Door.
At more than 1,000 metres up Gaanha-bula (Mount Canobolas), far from the city glow, Borrodell is one of the best spots in the region to look up. For two nights only, we’re teaming up with Blue Mountains Stargazing for an evening under the Southern Sky.
The night begins at 8pm on the terrace, with a glass of our wine and a spread of local cheese as the sun goes down. From 9pm, astrophysicist Dr Dimitri Douchin takes you on a guided telescope tour.
Early December is planet season, and Saturn is the star of the show, rings and all. It’s also a new moon week, so the skies will be properly dark and full of constellations. Dimitri has led more than 1,000 stargazing tours, from Sydney Observatory to Wolgan Valley, and he brings the stories behind the stars as well as the science.
Good to know:
- Spots are strictly limited each night.
- Bring a warm layer. It gets chilly at altitude, even in summer.
- If cloud cover means we can’t see the sky, you’ll receive a 3-year credit, transferable as a gift, redeemable at Borrodell.
Make a night of it. Stay over in one of our suites and wake up to the vines.
